"What is the matter with structured settlements?"

In this weeks edition of Speaking of Settlements, Mark Wahlstrom, a nationally renown expert on structured settlements, looks at "what is the matter with structured settlements?" The structured settlement profession has experienced a well documented, but little understood, decline in the premium written, the numbers of life companies engaged in funding and new experts entering the profession. Mark argues that the typical excuse of "low interest rates" doesn't hold water any more, particularly during a time when other income annuities are enjoying record growth and sales. There are fundamental flaws in the profession that will be addressed over a series of weeks as he looks at what is wrong with structured settlements.
